Our mission is to continue to provide a friendly, helpful and trustworthy service to Solihull and surrounding area, including advice, free quotations and if required the preparation of plans in our in-house CAD drawing office to aid in the decision making process for new builds, renovations and extensions.

He has a wealth of experience with groundworks, drainage, domestic property alterations and extensions together with Listed Building s renovation and extensions.

Steve and Mark retrofitted a damp proof membrane and fitted a new kitchen in our house at the start of 2025. They are both very personable and considerate, ensuring minimum disruption throughout the project, with the work also being carried out to a high standard.
Retrofitting the damp proof membrane required the removal of the bottom course of bricks, installing the membrane which the building lacks and then reinstating the original bricks. The match on the mortar is excellent, particularly given it is an old building with an unusual mortar. The best compliment I can give is that it is almost impossible to see where the membrane was installed!

Late in 2025 I had a survey carried out by a company I found on the Internet, on our TV Room which is a converted Garage, in our Dorridge Home, in which we suspected damp on a front and side wall.
This resulted in a set of recommendations as follows:

Installation of Surface water drainage. Eg ACO Drain channel.

Deteriorated pointing to be raked out and replaced.
-
Internal installation of damp-proof membrane to connect with existing DPC.
-
Improve insulation above ceiling.
-
Add trickle vents to Windows.
-
After completion, to have structural dehumidification carried out.
(Recommendations 5 and 6 were not carried out at my request)
Having received this Survey and Recommendations I was not sure where to go to find a Contractor capable of carrying out this kind of work but, very fortunately, a friend of my Wife recommended a company called Smith Williams Property Developments.
A meeting was arranged at my home where we met Steve Williams and Mark Smith and presented them with the list of Recommendations. They obviously and immediately understood what was required and a couple of weeks later they provided us with a written Quotation for Recommendations 1, 2,3 and 4 above.
We accepted the Quotation and work commenced 2 weeks later, and then continued for approximately 2 and half weeks, at the end of which the room was restored to a better condition than which it started, with all skirting boards and the two affected walls repainted.
We found Steve and Mark to be hard working, conscientious and clearly very skilled in every aspect of this work, and, in fact, added to their job list, mainly with roofing and roof drainage, issues, which were of course, in addition to the original quote.
I have no hesitation in recommending Smith Williams Property Developments, Steve & Mark, for any kind of property maintenance.
